Slack

The Slack communication model is revolutionising how organisations communicate from an individual to team communication model. The easiest way to describe this is how an individual sees communication within their company.

Let’s say there is a company with 1,000 staff. This company sends 30,000 emails internally every day. Each person in the company sees different segments of this information flow and this is simply because another person sent it to them. Put simply one person might get 20 emails and another 100. These will give those two different people extremely different perspectives on what is going on in the company.

Slack changes this to a team and company first model. You have channels that people are part of – they can be by teams or departments or whatever best suits your organisation. A message sent to a channel allows everyone who is in the channel to see it and respond. You can also upload documents directly to a channel.
Slack is priced at $21.50 per user per month. Non-Profit organisations receive an 85% discount.

Google Analytics

Google analytics provides your company with invaluable information about your online presence. It gives you easy to understand data about where your traffic is coming from, what the most popular pages of your site are and much more.

It’s vital for you to know all of this information so you can model your content accordingly. And the best thing? It’s completely free.

Buffer

Buffer allows you and your team to work collaboratively to manage your social media accounts on Instagram; Facebook; Twitter; LinkedIn and Pinterest.

You can schedule social media posts to come out whenever you want. You can respond to posts on any account from a single team inbox making social media management so much easier. You can also see how all your posts are going in one place. It’s like Google Analytics for your social media accounts.

Buffer currently offers two pricing plans. The Pro plan is $35 per month and allows for 8 social media accounts. The premium plan allows for 10 social media accounts and is $50 per month. Buffer offers a 50% discount for non-profit organisations.

Canva

Canva is your one stop shop for images. This application can help design logos and images for everything that you do. You can use the templates for suggested sizing for your social media accounts.

It has collaborative features so a team of people can work on a project. This gives you full control allowing you to create transparent images, upload specific fonts and create your own colour pallet.

There is a free option but to get the most out of this product you have to go with the paid options. There are two: Pro which is $13.99 per user per month and Enterprise which is $42 per user per month. The Enterprise plan’s features become most relevant when you have many people working together on a project allowing you complete control over who can change what.

Canva Pro is available free to Non-Profit Organisations.

Asana

Asana is a project/task management app. It looks super simple to start off with so you can get functionality from it straight away but additional features will allow you to unlock the full potential of this organisational software.

Essentially you create a project and add steps to it. Then you can assign people in your company to the tasks with due dates. The start of a task can be dependent on another task so the person assigned to a task will know when they can start work or their part of a project.

It also gives you a very clear view of where everything is up to with a project without having to speak to everyone involved so you can get updates very quickly. This is a huge timesaving device. Another huge bonus is that for repeatable projects – such as onboarding new staff you can save a template of the project so you just start it up again when someone else joins the company.

Pricing ranges from free to $32.99 per user per month. To get the most out of this software you will need either Premium ($14.69 per month) or Business ($26.99 per month). Asana offers a discount of a one year subscription under either of these plans to Non-Profits at a flat rate of $110.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is an email marketing management app. It allows you to easily manage your email list with plugins to your website or social media so people can easily sign up. It allows you to break your email contacts into different audiences so you can really target the right people.

It gives you great insight into who is reading your emails and what they are clicking on. It also allows easy unsubscribing without you having to manage a thing. Design and management of emails is simple and you can schedule emails to go out at specific times.

Pricing ranges from free to premium which starts at $523.58 per month. The cost scales with the number of email contacts you are managing. To get the most out of this product you need at least the Standard package which starts at $17.49 per month. There is a 15% discount on these prices for Non-Profit organisations.
